Ray Pou Poasa

Ray is currently Deputy Chair of Te Komiti Nui o Ngāti Whakaue. Ray was born in Rotorua and raised in Ngāpuna and is married to Lorainne Hall. They have three daughters, Hiraina, Rauoriwa, Kaihau and one son, Tamati.
His parents are Tuisano and Theresa (Hine) Pou, his Grandparents are Pou and Te Poki (paternal side) and Paurini Mutu and Parehu Hamiora (maternal side). His Great Grandparents are Poasa and Salome (paternal side) and Hiraina Herewini and Mutu Kawhena (maternal side) and his Great Great Grandparents are Pohiri Hamiora and Kaihau Te Pere.

Kingi Biddle
Trustee | Ngāti Whakaue
Kingi is also a member of the Komiti Nui Communications committee. Born and raised in Rotorua, he and his family live in Koutu, Ōhinemutu. His wife Wendy comes from Tainui Mataatua and they have four beautiful tamariki and two “strikingly amazing” mokopuna.
Kingi is the son of Robert Bully and Linda Biddle, both of Ngāti Whakaue and descends from the two Tupuna, Pango through his son Hamuera and Te Amohau through his son Paora.
Being on the Committee is a way to seal the past and future for our iwi.

Hokimatemai Kahukiwa

Hoki served in the Royal New Zealand Infantry for 22 years. He served in Malaysia and Vietnam. Hoki attained the rank of Warrant Officer 1st Class.

Te Kiri affliates to Ngati Hurungaoterangi, Ngati Tunohopu, Ngati Pukaki, Ngati Te Rorooterangi and Ngati Taeotu. Te Kiri’s koroua and kuia are; Niramowa Tireni Taiehu Mitchell (Mitere) and Nataria Potohiko Haupapa (Michell). Her matua and whaea are Hamuera Taiporuiu Mitchell (Mitere) andRangipawa Te Kahu Kopekia Haimona (Mitchell). Te Kiri is married to Ike Retimawa. They have two children, Zane Hamuera Taiporutu Michell and Shaloh Kaiser Octavious Mitchell. Te Kiri and Ike have two mokopuna, Aleisha and Shikyra.

Pauline Moana Tangohau

Pauline was appointed as Trustee at a registered voting hui of Ngāti Whakaue, held at Tamatekapua 14 April 2009. She is of 6 representative of the 6 koromātua hapū. She is married to Walter Tangohau, have 2 daughters and 2 mokopuna. Her parents are Whakarato and Rerekura John Waetford, her Grandparents are Rangipahere and Retimana Paul, her Great Grandparents are Taiporutu and Te Aomihi Mitchell and her Great Great Grandparents are Whakarato Taiehu and Henry Walker Mitchell. Pauline is Senior Advisor, Programme Management at Te Puni Kōkiri.

Veronica Butterworth

Veronica was born in Rotorua and raised in Ngapuna. She is married to Dennis (Ngati Porou) and they have three children. Her parents are Miriama (Viti) Ammunson and Frederick Carrington. Veronica’s tupuna kuia and koroua are Wenarata Hona and Herewini Ngamahanga.
Veronica has worked as a Public Health Nurse and a Special Education Advisor. More recently Veronica has been managing population based health projects.
Veronica holds a PGDip,(SpecEd), and MEdPysch.

Paora John Tohi Te Ururangi Tapsell

Paora is currently a Professor & Dean of Te Tumu School of Māori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies at the University of Otago. He holds a variety of directorships & trusteeships throughout New Zealand. Paora holds the following degrees; BA, PGDip (Bus), MA (Auckland), DPhil (Oxford).

Larissa Wharepōuri
Trustee | Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Pikiao, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Pukenga
Larissa was born and raised in Auckland, her mum is of Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Pikiao, Ngati Raukawa descent, and her dad is of Ngāti Paoa and Ngāti Pukenga descent. Larissa has worked in the Health and Disability sector for over 15 years, of which the last 10 years have been spent in the Bay of Plenty. In August 2009, Larissa replaced Komiti Nui Trustee Tupara Morrison. Larissa has a BA, MA and MBA.
